St Peter’s Preparatory School is set in 28 acres of beautiful countryside with stunning views over the Exe Estuary. A traditional, yet progressive prep school for children aged 3 up to 13. In the extensive grounds of our school, we have:

  • 2 adventure playgrounds
  • a swimming pool
  • astro for hockey, tennis and netball
  • 4 rugby pitches
  • 2 cricket pitches
  • our own woodland

St Peter’s pupils benefit from outstanding teaching in small class sizes where children of all abilities have the individual attention they need to enable outstanding achievement and challenge.

Year 8 children gain 100% success rate of entry to their chosen senior schools and many leave us with academic scholarships or with scholarships in art, music, sport or drama. Your children can also learn to sail, kayak or ringo on the Estuary as part of our Friday afternoon activity programme. Last summer, William and Josh became St Peter’s Preparatory School’s very first IAPS’ sailing National Champions at the Under 11 day at the 2012 Olympic sailing venue at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Participating in the performance class, the boys were not only the only sailors to complete their first race, but continued in taking a further three first places. To mark the boys’ achievement, former St Peter’s pupil and Olympian Ben Rhodes was very kind in joining us for a presentation.

Drama and Art thrive at St Peter’s and the children are encouraged to be confident, creative and resilient individuals.  St Peter’s children enjoy both our own forest school and beach school.

Last ISI Integrated Inspection report says:

“Pupils achieve exceptionally well from Early Years Foundation Stage onwards, both in their academic work and their extra-curricular activities.”

The Good Schools Guide states:

“Exceptionally strong sports record maintained over long period with more than a handful making at least county level representative teams.”

St Peter’s year 8 pupil:

“The teachers really understand how to work with you. “

St Peter’s year 6 pupil:

“We’re all one big family.”
